This gem has an unassuming restaurant front, but it's definitely a favorite for locals! There's a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant or street parking. Waited about 45 minutes for a party of 3 on a Saturday night. Their menu offers a good variety of Japanese meat and fish entrees, noodle soups, sushi combos, and appetizers. For appetizers, their Crab Gyoza is a must! I've never seen another restaurant that has it. Plus, they use real crab meat! So yummy! I usually like to get one of their dinner combinations. Almost all of them are served with miso soup, salad (they dressing is so tasty), and rice. The teriyaki salmon is always a solid choice. I also like that you have the option to get it with tempura or sashimi! The black cod misoyaki is also good, very tender. Sakura has a wide variety of sushi options. They give you a special order form that you can mark down the number of orders you want. The form itself doesn't give descriptions of the rolls, but you can ask for a menu that will tell you the ingredients in each roll. I got their Sakura Roll, which seems to be one of their most popular rolls. It has baby lobster, avocado, tuna, white fish, salmon, cucumber, and soy paper with slices of lemon. An order comes with six sizable pieces. Definitely enjoyed this one! And they have one of the best California Rolls--real crab meat in this one too! Worth it!

Great service- fast and efficient. Moderately priced and appears to be a local destination. We sat at the bar and sampled a wide variety of their menu- a hit for us was the mushroom and calamari at the end- very tasty.

So freaking good! What more is there to say?! The fish is fresh and everything is reasonably priced. They don't take reservations and it always seems to be feel but we've never had to wait for more than 5 minutes. Not sure how that works . Street parking is typically easy to find. Spicy tuna crispy rice js HUGE and so delicious. Fish is plentiful and buttery. A must try spot!!

I've been coming here for decades. They have really grown nicely over the years too. I love how it is still local family owned and operated. I've tried nearly everything on the menu. While I enjoyed everything I've eaten here, I most enjoy the sashimi, sushi and chirashi (just no octopus/tako. Did you octopus are a very intelligent and sensitive being?) The sushi chefs take great pride in what they serve. Excellent food, efficient service, great selection, clean facilities, fair parking, pleasant customers, reasonable pricing for quality.

Walked in around 6:30 pm on a Friday. Sat at the sushi bar. The place was crowded but most of the parties were larger groups. It was just me and my boyfriend so we easily got a seat at the bar, but there was a little bit of a wait for a table with larger groups. Service was excellent at the bar. Super quick waitress and the sushi chefs were very fast as well. Everyone was friendly. The food was also excellent! One thing they annoys me about some sushi restaurants is when there's a very off balance fish to rice ratio. This place doesn't have that problem. The sushi cuts were nice and thick and fell over the rice vs small cut of fish and huge chunk of rice. Quality was superb! Everything tasted so fresh. We enjoyed everything we ordered. It's definitely not cheap but the quality and service was there. I would say the cost is on par with what we have spent in similar sushi restaurants in the area. Worth it IMO. We will definitely go back!

Good, fresh sushi in a busy, rather no-frills setting. This is another place I have been passing by for the two years I have lived in Del Rey and never been to. But there always seems to be a line of people waiting outside. Boyfriend and I happened in just before the rush on a Tuesday evening. We were seated immediately, which was great, because the place was pretty packed and rather noisy. The sweet waitress served us drinks right away. We ordered the 30 piece sushi combo and two orders of miso soup. The sushi wasn't the most artfully or beautifully presented that I've ever eaten in my life (see photos); however, the fish itself was fresh and generously portioned in thick slices. No paper-thin slices of fish here. We left pretty satisfied and happy. Solid food and good customer service. We plan on coming back!!
